About the cartoon We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story

The year 1993 presented audiences with a fascinating animated adventure – “We’re Back! A Dinosaur’s Story.” This cartoon, created through the efforts of several directors – Phil Nibbelink, Dick Zondag, Simon Wells, and Ralph Zondag – offers a completely different perspective on prehistoric giants. Forget bloodthirsty predators: here, dinosaurs become the main characters of a touching and instructive story about friendship, courage, and wish fulfillment. The film masterfully balances light comedy with exciting fantasy, and a magnificent cast, including the voices of Blaze Berdahl, Julia Child, René Le Vant, Jay Leno, and Charles Fleischer, imbues each character with unique individuality.

Plot (spoiler-free)

At the center of the narrative is the eccentric but good-natured Professor Goodview, whose name already hints at his benevolent intentions. In his amazing airship, capable of time travel, he ventures into the distant past to capture four ferocious dinosaurs. But instead of using them for scientific purposes or staging a show, Goodview pursues a noble goal: he transforms the ancient predators into intelligent, talking, and absolutely charming creatures using a special serum. After this, he lets them listen to his “Radio of Wishes,” which broadcasts children’s most cherished dreams. However, due to unforeseen temporal malfunctions, the dinosaurs are catapulted into modern New York, right at the feet of a boy named Louie, who, surprisingly, takes their appearance in stride. To avoid scaring the townspeople, the newcomers pretend to be robots, but their secret is soon revealed by a young girl. And all would be well, if not for the appearance on the horizon of Goodview’s infernal brother – Professor Badview – whose villainous plans include a circus of monsters and the kidnapping of children, including Louie and his new friend. Now, the good dinosaurs must prove that they are not just funny lizards, but true heroes capable of protecting those who believed in them.
